Pirna (dpa/sn) – After the devastating forest fires in Saxon Switzerland this summer, 128 applications for emergency aid were received. For August alone, 86 applications with a preliminary volume of 755,000 euros were made, as the district office announced on Wednesday. There are 42 applications for September with a volume of 337,500 euros. 62 percent of the applications were approved.
After the forest fires, the Ministry of Tourism launched an emergency aid program worth around two million euros. This is intended to help tourism businesses that have suffered “existential declines in bookings” due to the forest fires. The aid does not have to be repaid.
