Leipzig (dpa/sn) – With a diverse program, the Leipzig Lach Fair wants to advertise the charm of the small stages again this year. 76 events on 11 stages by 126 artists from 12 countries are intended to give an overview of the trends on the small stages, announced Harald Pfeifer, board member of the Leipziger Pfeffermühle cabaret, on Tuesday in Leipzig.

The fair is taking place for the 32nd time this year. As every year, it is a collection of all genres that “have laughter as their order of business,” said Pfeiffer. Although the focus is always on the diversity of the program, the cabaret festival still focuses on political cabaret.

Between October 16th and 23rd, appearances by well-known greats such as Anny Hartmann and Tom Pauls are planned. However, the trade fair must also face the task of preparing the stage for the younger generation. Events are planned in Leipzig’s Moritzbastei, the play, the pepper mill or the copper hall, among others.

The motto of this year’s International Humor and Satire Festival is “Laughter is the beginning of all peacefulness,” explained Pfeifer.
