Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Between the beginning of September and mid-November, 650 cases of influenza were reported in Saxony-Anhalt. The Ministry of Health in Magdeburg called these figures from the State Office for Consumer Protection on request. “For comparison: in the last ten years, between 0 and 22 cases were transmitted from all over Saxony-Anhalt in the same period,” said a spokesman for Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD).
According to the information, 97 cases of influenza were reported in the 44th calendar week of the autumn holidays, after the holidays in the 45th calendar week there were 177 cases. The early increase indicates an increased circulation of influenza viruses and “a violent beginning of the flu wave in Saxony-Anhalt,” said the spokesman.
According to the State Office for Consumer Protection, rhinoviruses, adenoviruses and corona viruses also circulated in the 45th calendar week. In order to reduce transmission, the Robert Koch Institute recommends observing hygiene rules, wearing a mask when meeting indoors and airing the room regularly.
