Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – According to the Ministry of the Interior, around 7,900 people took to the streets in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday against high inflation, the Ukraine war and the federal government’s energy policy. A ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday that there were a total of 41 meetings across the country. The largest demonstration took place in Wittenberg with around 2700 participants.
“The police initiated nine investigations across the country for insult, threats and property damage. There were no major disturbances,” the spokeswoman continued.
The number of demonstrations taking place every Monday has been declining for several weeks. At the beginning of October, the number of participants in Saxony-Anhalt was sometimes twice as high.
