Haldensleben (dpa/sa) – The Börde district administration has restricted water withdrawal. “Due to the persistent drought and falling groundwater level, there is a ban on water withdrawal in the Börde district until September 30, 2022,” said a statement on Tuesday. Accordingly, it is temporarily not allowed to take water from surface waters using technical devices. The basis is a general decree of the district.
In addition, it is forbidden between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to take water from wells to irrigate green areas, sports facilities and sports fields. At this time of day, a large part of the water evaporates – the irrigation is correspondingly inefficient.
Several districts in Saxony-Anhalt have already issued similar orders. In the meantime, the Altmark district of Salzwedel, the Salzland district, the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Stendal, Jerichower Land and the city of Dessau-Roßlau have published corresponding general decrees.
