Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has hardly changed within a week. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a value of 194.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days on Thursday. A week ago it was 193.1, two weeks ago 263.9. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 186.9 (previous week: 199.2).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

The health authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have reported more than 920,600 infections to the RKI since the beginning of the pandemic, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. 6024 deaths related to the coronavirus were recorded. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.
