Halle (dpa/sa) – The state administration office has extended the disciplinary proceedings against the suspended mayor of the city of Halle, Bernd Wiegand (independent). According to a letter from the state administration office to the city council, which is available to the German Press Agency, he is suspected of having committed a disciplinary offense through further “acts”. He is accused of deliberately untruthful statements before the district court. He is also said to have used official resources for private purposes.

The state administration office lists, among other things, a number of cases in which city administration employees are said to have made private restaurant and hotel reservations for the mayor between 2018 and 2020. These actions gave rise to the suspicion of a misdemeanor.

The disciplinary proceedings against Wiegand now include numerous points. This includes, among other things, violations of collective bargaining and budgetary regulations and breaches of service law as part of his premature vaccination against the corona vaccination prioritization that will apply in 2021. Wiegand was suspended by the city council in 2021 after the so-called vaccination affair. There will be no court proceedings for the time being.
