Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The state parliament’s commission of inquiry into public broadcasting will start work on Friday. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the state parliament on Wednesday. The Commission wants to deal with how trust in public service broadcasting can be strengthened through transparency and the will to reform. All six parliamentary groups see the need for structural changes.
The current acceptance values ??for public service broadcasting are a dangerous sign of a loss of confidence in the free and democratic basic order, it said. The Commission should, among other things, consider a “more sustainable use of financial resources to fulfill the program mandate, the possibility of further structural reforms and the strengthening of the control bodies”, said the spokeswoman for the state parliament on Wednesday.
The Commission is said to have 13 MEPs. In addition to the final report, an interim report is to be submitted to parliament every year, for the first time before the 2024 summer break.
