The apple harvest has been going on in Saxony since the beginning of September. Fruit size and quality are very good. However, the apple farmers are not satisfied.
Dresden (dpa/sa) – According to preliminary estimates, the apple harvest in Saxony is worse than in the previous year. The yields are likely to have decreased, explained the managing director of the state association of Saxon fruit, Udo Jentzsch. According to the information, it is still unclear how high the difference in income will be compared to the previous year. “However, the fruit size and quality of the harvested apples is very high,” said Jentzsch. Apples have been harvested in Saxony since the beginning of September. The harvest season runs until mid-October.
To ensure that fruit growing in Saxony continues, Jentzsch appealed to people to buy regional apples. This is intended to preserve biodiversity and promote regional fruit growing.
