Halle (dpa/sa) – At the end of last year, 9075 people in Saxony-Anhalt received standard benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. As the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday, this was the first time in six years that there was an increase compared to the previous year. At the end of 2020, the number was 8040. In the course of 2021, a total of almost 75 million euros were paid for benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. In 2020 it was 73 million euros.
According to the information, more than half of those seeking protection were housed in reception facilities and communal accommodation. Of the 9,075 beneficiaries, 5,535 held a residence permit, 350 had the status of a family member traveling with them, 2,370 had a certificate of toleration and 420 were obliged to leave the country.
