Halle (dpa/sa) – Last year, the state of Saxony-Anhalt paid an average of 1,895 euros to enable the destitute deceased to have an appropriate burial. A total of 1.5 million euros were collected for 830 social burials, as the State Statistical Office in Halle announced on Tuesday. Payment is made if the burial cannot be paid for either by the estate or by the heirs. Then the assumption of costs can be requested from the state’s social service providers, it said. According to the statistics, the total costs incurred in 2021 are roughly the same as in 2017.
