Annaburg (dpa/sa) – A driver was fatally injured in an accident near Annaburg (Wittenberg district). The 80-year-old came off the road on Tuesday afternoon in a long left turn to the right, as the police announced on Wednesday. He drove across the grass verge and skidded. According to the information, the man was able to countersteer and returned to the road, but then came off the road to the right again. The 80-year-old crashed into a tree and then came to a standstill in a second tree. He was trapped in the vehicle and freed by firefighters.

A rescue helicopter took the seriously injured to a hospital. Presumably no one but him had been involved in the accident, as it was said. The road was closed for several hours as a result of the accident on Tuesday.
