Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – SC Magdeburg and defender Piotr Chrapkowski are going their separate ways after the current season. “We love the fans and the club, but after six very successful years in sport with the SCM family, it’s time to recommend me again for a new challenge,” the Pole was quoted as saying in a statement from the Bundesliga handball team on Tuesday . “It hasn’t been decided where we’re headed. But it’s clear that I want to continue playing handball.”
Head coach Bennet Wiegert said: “With his experience and robustness in defence, he’s played a key role in the club’s recent successes. That’s why it’s very difficult for us to let him go at the end of the season, but we don’t want any stones for his future get in the way.”
Chrapkowski moved from Kielce to Magdeburg in 2017. With the SCM, the captain of the Polish national team became European League winner, German champion and twice brought the club world championship to the Elbe.
