Halle/Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – A trainee in the prison system in Saxony-Anhalt has been dismissed from state service because of her proximity to the right-wing scene. Minister of Justice Franziska Weidinger (CDU) informed about this on Wednesday in the legal committee of the state parliament. At the time, the candidate had attracted attention, among other things, in social networks with postings that fueled the suspicion that the woman was close to anti-constitutional, right-wing people and groups.
The case became known more than a year ago. This was followed by a legal examination and the suspension of the woman. The woman later took legal action against her dismissal, but the administrative court confirmed the legality of the dismissal a few weeks ago.
“The responsible court has fully confirmed our line. There is no place in the Saxony-Anhalt judiciary for employees who do not stand up for the law and the constitution,” said the Minister of Justice on Wednesday. The domestic policy spokesman for the Greens parliamentary group, Sebastian Striegel, wrote on Twitter: “It’s good that the Ministry of Justice has now been successful in getting sacked.” CDU right-wing politician Karin Tschernich-Weiske commented on the step on the short message service with “Good so!”.
According to the information, since October 2021 all prospective candidates for the prison service in Saxony-Anhalt have been subject to a regular query at the state’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution. In this way, the constitutional loyalty of the applicants is to be checked.
