Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Onset of winter in Saxony-Anhalt: On Friday afternoon it should snow in large parts of the country. And it could even be enough for a snowman – at least in the Harz Mountains: “We expect a snow depth of about five centimeters above 600 to 700 meters,” said Sebastian Balders from the German Weather Service on Thursday. Starting in the Altmark, the snowstorm should move on to Thuringia on Saturday.
The first snowflakes fell on the Brocken on Thursday, but they disappeared again during the course of the day. Also in the night to Friday it remains unstable with local rain showers. The temperatures drop to five to one degree. Sleet can occur, especially in the Altmark. On Friday it should continue to be cool and rainy, with temperatures between six degrees in the Burgenland district and three degrees in the Altmark.
