Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Against the background of ongoing supply bottlenecks and price increases, the state of Saxony-Anhalt wants to further relieve the construction sector. The Ministry of Finance in Magdeburg announced on Wednesday that the decree on the so-called material price escalation clause had been extended until the end of the year. The calculation and price risk for building construction measures in the state should not lie solely with the companies. Under certain conditions, companies can invoice the contracting authority for increased costs, for example for steel, cement products and wood. Essentially, the previous decree situation will be continued, but according to the information it has been expanded with regard to the substance groups. The regulations were originally limited to June 30th.
“The prices for building materials are currently increasing at an unprecedented pace,” said Finance and Building Minister Michael Richter (CDU). The small and medium-sized trade and construction companies in particular should not be left alone with this development, it said. The country wants to live up to its responsibility as a “reliable partner” for the construction industry.
