Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The Magdeburg public transport company has so far sold more than 100,000 9-euro tickets. The company announced this on Tuesday. Both the June ticket and the July ticket were each sold around 45,000 times. In the month of August there are so far 10,000 pieces. The majority of customers bought the ticket at the counter, only about every seventh ticket was bought via ticket machines or via smartphone.
According to the transport company, the number of passengers has increased significantly. For example, around 400,000 more people were on the state capital’s buses and trains in June than in May. Managing director Birgit Münster-Rendel said the 9-euro ticket was a success. “It is all the more important that the federal and state governments come together quickly to negotiate a successor solution.”
The 9-euro ticket is a special offer to relieve passengers in the energy crisis. From the beginning of June to the end of August, they can use buses and trains nationwide for local transport for nine euros a month. How things will continue after August is open. There are numerous suggestions, such as a 365-euro annual ticket or monthly tickets for 29 or 69 euros.
