Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The state capital Magdeburg will be transformed into a medieval metropolis in the coming days. After the opening of the twelfth Kaiser Otto Festival on Friday, visitors can travel back in time until Monday, when jugglers, artisans, fire artists, minstrels and knights were part of everyday life. The complex festival area between the cathedral, the monastery of Our Lady and the banks of the Elbe is more than 2.8 hectares in size. According to the organizer, three stages will be used, and a large knight’s tournament is also part of the festival.

Several thousand guests from all parts of Saxony-Anhalt are expected to attend the historic city festival in honor of Emperor Otto I. The participants, who want to show juggling, magic, dance, music and acrobatics, among other things, travel from all over Germany.
