Halle (dpa/sa) – In Saxony-Anhalt, unemployment has continued to fall. Around 77,600 were registered as unemployed in mid-October, 1,300 fewer than in September. The unemployment rate in Saxony-Anhalt fell within a month by 0.1 percentage points to 7.1 percent in October, as the regional directorate of Saxony-Anhalt-Thuringia of the Federal Employment Agency announced on Wednesday. In the same month last year, the rate was 6.6 percent. Despite the current strain on the economy, the job market continues to be very stable, said the head of the regional directorate, Markus Behrens. The start of training and studies as well as the late summer weather contributed to this, in order to be able to continue working outdoors. The tourism industry also felt the mild October, it said. The cut-off date for the survey was October 13.
