Bautzen (dpa/sn) – After the arson attack last Friday, the security for the accommodation of refugees in a former hotel in Bautzen is being re-examined. Coordination with the State Criminal Police Office was under way, the district office announced on Tuesday. It is about clarifying “the whether and how a possible accommodation of asylum seekers in the Spreehotel”. A final statement on this is not yet possible, it said.
The first refugees were supposed to be given quarters there this week. The district of Bautzen wanted to provide information on how to proceed on Wednesday, but has now canceled the press conference.
On Friday, unknown persons smashed the windows of the former hotel and set it on fire. Several people in the building were unharmed. Since Friday, the police counter-terrorism and extremism center has been investigating serious arson. According to the State Criminal Police Office, there is still no new information about the perpetrators. The press office was also unable to provide any information on Tuesday about the exact amount of damage. It will continue to be determined at full speed, it said.
