Zwönitz/Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – A police tracking dog has tracked down a lost mushroom picker in a forest near Zwönitz. The 85-year-old was exhausted but unharmed, as the police in Chemnitz announced on Thursday. The senior left by car on Wednesday morning to look for mushrooms and wanted to be back around noon. But when he stayed away for a long time, the concerned relatives went in search and found his car. But there was no trace of the 85-year-old, so they reported him missing. The search with radio patrol cars was initially unsuccessful, so the tracking dog “Doug” came to the train, which found the missing person half an hour later in the forest. The police helicopter that had already been requested was able to remain on the ground and a rescue dog squadron no longer had to be deployed.
