Dresden (dpa / sn) – The Saxon CDU General Secretary Alexander Dierks speaks out against a speed limit in the energy crisis. Discussing it now would miss the real core of the current problems, Dierks said on Monday. There are “no reliable figures for the benefit”.

It is therefore also incomprehensible to him that CDU politicians have also expressed their approval of a speed limit. At the weekend, party vice-president Andreas Jung and the chairman of the climate protection committee, Thomas Gebhart (CDU), spoke out in favor of a temporary speed limit. Germany is the only country in Europe without a speed limit.

“The truth is that millions of people have been restricting themselves for months: they pay attention to their energy consumption, use their cars less, try to drive more fuel-efficiently and are still worried that the skyrocketing prices will continue to overwhelm them financially,” explained Dierks.
