Saxony: Cigarette triggers apartment fire: one dead

Mittweida (dpa / sn) – The apartment fire in Mittweida (Middle Saxony district) with one dead person was probably caused by a smoldering cigarette. This is the result of initial investigations at the scene of the fire, the police said on Sunday. The fire broke out in the home of a 62-year-old on Friday afternoon. The man’s body was discovered during fire fighting. Investigations into the circumstances of death are ongoing.
