Leipzig (dpa/sn) – Customs confiscated six kilograms of amphetamine in the form of MDMA at Leipzig/Halle Airport. The customs officials had carried out a drug wipe test on a package and discovered the drugs, as the main customs office announced on Wednesday. The reason for testing the air freight shipment on November 19 was the unusually high weight of the package. According to the notification, the shipment allegedly contained decorative picture frames and was to be sent from Italy to Qatar.
“Professional smugglers keep trying to deceive customs with new hiding places. But thanks to our experienced colleagues and the technology at our disposal, we are prepared for such cases,” explains Maximilian Hempel, spokesman for the main customs office in Dresden.
