Jonsdorf (dpa/sn) – The ice rink in Jonsdorf (Zittau Mountains) is threatened with closure due to high energy prices. The additional costs for this season are now to be raised with a fundraiser, as the CDU district association announced on Friday. “The municipality and Jonsdorfer Kur und Tourismus GmbH cannot cover these costs alone and are therefore asking for your help. Around 60,000 euros are needed to ensure the ice season for children and youth sports as well as free ice skating for the entire season until March 2023 is.” In addition to the community, the ice sports club Jonsdorf-Zittauer gebirge also called for participation.
“In addition to the short-term securing of energy costs, what drives us as the CDU district parliamentary group is that the ice rink has a permanent perspective,” explained CDU district chief Floria Oest. Ice sports have a long tradition in Jonsdorf and should continue to be a meeting place and attraction for residents and tourists in the future. It is now a matter of finding a viable solution together with the district office and the entire Zittau region.
