Dresden (dpa/sn) – Employees in the metal and electrical industry are also called on to go on warning strikes in Saxony this Tuesday (from 9 a.m.). At the train builder Alstom in Bautzen, at the car manufacturer Porsche and some other companies, the employees want to emphasize their demands in the current wage round, the metal industry union said. The first trade union districts had already rejected the coordinated offer of their respective employer associations last week.

There had already been warning strikes in many places over the weekend, and in Berlin employees in several companies went on temporary strikes on Monday. IG Metall is demanding 8 percent higher wages and salaries. Among other things, the employers have promised a tax- and duty-free “inflation compensation premium” of 3,000 euros and a later, as yet unspecified increase in the salary scales.
