Meissen (dpa/sn) – The program of the New Meissen Castle Festival from June 2 to 11, 2023 ranges from the performance “Jedermann” to interactive theater play Offer a foray through the centuries – in an authentic environment at the Albrechtsburg, as the state theaters of Saxony (Radebeul) announced on Thursday. After seven years, you take over the direction of the spectacle from Theater Meißen, which can no longer hold the event for staff reasons.
Between a reading from Sabine Ebert’s bestseller novel “Die Spur der Midbamme” and the premiere of the commissioned work “1423” by a young Saxon composer, ten drama, dance and music theater productions, readings and concerts are planned. These include the premiere of Benjamin Britten’s church parable “Curlew River” in Meißner Cathedral, the dance piece produced with the Brazilian choreographer Mario Nascimento to Bach’s Art of Fugue, whereby his “Fuga” becomes the escape. There is also the interactive theater game “Meissen@Play”.
With the New Meissen Castle Festival in 2015, a tradition that was founded almost 100 years ago and was interrupted during the Nazi era and the GDR was revived.
