Leipzig (dpa / sn) – In Saxony, people can expect a slight cooling off in the next few days. For Thursday, the German Weather Service (DWD) expected maximum temperatures of up to 33 degrees in eastern Saxony and in the west of the country up to 30 degrees with a freshening wind from the west. Occasionally there should be thunderstorms or showers, as a DWD meteorologist said on Thursday. Stormy gusts are possible in the vicinity of thunderstorms.

Because of the persistent drought, there was still a high to very high risk of forest fires on Thursday. “Not much will change with the few raindrops,” emphasized the meteorologist. On Friday, the temperatures are expected to rise up to 31 degrees, it will remain dry and clear. Light rain will sweep across the country on Saturday morning.

On Wednesday, the provisional high was 38.1 degrees Celsius in Bad Muskau, as the DWD spokesman said on Thursday.
