St. Egidien (dpa/sn) – A cable fire at an industrial company in St. Egidien (Zwickau district) triggered a major alarm on Tuesday morning. Shortly after midnight, the electricity provider noticed significant power fluctuations and informed the company. Heavy smoke was then discovered in a transformer room. The 38 employees present were able to leave the hall unscathed, according to the Zwickau police department.
Several firefighters brought the fire under control. According to the information, the cause was a technical defect. A warning was issued for more than three hours due to heavy smoke. The police were initially unable to provide any information on the extent of the damage.
