Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – Anyone who wants to work as a family doctor in the country in the future has a chance of a medical degree in Saxony, regardless of the regular numerus clausus. Applications for the coming winter semester could still be submitted up to February 28 via the country doctor quota, the Saxony State Directorate announced on Monday in Chemnitz. Dresden, Leipzig or Chemnitz can therefore be considered as places to study human medicine.
Since the 2022/23 winter semester, 40 study places have been allocated via the quota. Applicants undertake to work as a contract doctor for at least ten years in an area for which a special need has been identified. According to the state directorate, the study places are outside of the regular allocation process, in which the Abitur grade is the decisive criterion.
