Scarlett Johansson and Disney announced this Thursday that they have reached an agreement to resolve the complaint that the actress interposed against the Mickey Mouse giant for the benefits of “Black Widow” (2021).

Johansson said he was “happy” for having solved his “differences with Disney” and was willing to work again with this study in the future.

“I am incredibly proud of the work we have done together over the years and I have enjoyed the big of my creative relationship with your team,” said the actress, as the magazine The Hollywood Reporter picked up.

The president of Disney Studios, Alan Bergman, was also satisfied by the end of this controversy and very media complaint, and extolled Johansson’s “contribution” to the success of Marvel’s cinematographic universe (MCU).

For now, the figures and terms of the agreement have not been known.

Double nominated Al Óscar by Jojo Rabbit (2019) and a marriage history (2019), Johansson demanded at the end of July Disney for the simultaneous premiere in cinemas and Disney + of Black Widow, something that, in his opinion, harmed it economically.

According to the actress and producer of this tape, an important part of its salary depended on the ticket office and that is why I had torn Marvel the promise that you could only see this tape on the big screen.

“Disney (owner of Marvel) was very aware of this promise, but even so he instructed Marvel to violate his commitment and, instead, launch the film in Disney + the same day that came to the cinemas,” he said in his
complaint.

The demand added that “Disney intentionally induced the Marvel Contract breach, without justification, with the aim of preventing Johansson from obtaining the total benefits of his agreement with Marvel”.

Disney responded with hardness to Johansson and argued that this claim for non-contract breach had no “no foundation”.

“This complaint is especially sad and distressing in its cruel indifference to the horrible, prolonged and global effects of the pandemic of Coronavirus,” he said.

“Disney has fully fulfilled Johansson’s contract, is more, the premiere of black widow in Disney + with a premium access has significantly expanded his ability to earn additional compensation above $ 20 million he has received to date”,
He added.

Black Widow is the first film that Marvel has premiered since the pandemic began and is the tape with which Johansson says goodbye to his character from Natasha after more than a decade interpreting it in this popular superhero saga.

Directed by Cate Shortland and with Florence Pugh accompanying Johansson, a black widow achieved 80 million dollars on his premiere weekend at US cinemas. And Canada.
Black widow added another 78 million dollars in the international market.
In total, the film has been packed so far 379 million dollars at the box office.

In addition, Disney detailed, in a very unusual gesture and commented in Hollywood, who had achieved 60 million more for sales on the Disney + platform on his first weekend.

Disney paids + had to pay an extra 30 dollars to see a black widow by “streaming”.

This Demand from Johansson was understood in the industry as a possible precedent of future lawsuits or demands at a time when the main entertainment companies are being decanted for the “streaming” services to achieve greater growth.

This movement involves important changes for actors and producers, who want, on the other hand, make sure that the development of digital platforms does not occur at their expense.
