The until now Secretary of State for International Cooperation, the Galician socialist Pilar Cancela, will become Secretary of State for Migration under the Ministry of Inclusion, directed by Elma Saiz.
Socialist sources consulted by Europa Press have confirmed the information advanced by ‘eldiario.es’ and that the former president of the PSdeG management company after the resignation of José Ramón Gómez Besteiro as general secretary – she was previously its Secretary of Organization — will be in charge of Migrations in this new stage of the Government led by Pedro Sánchez.
Pilar Cancela (Stuttgart, 1967) has a degree in Law and a higher degree in Occupational Risk Prevention. She worked as a mediator and was General Director of Labor Relations of the Xunta de Galicia (2002-2003 and 2005-2009). She has been an official in the Higher Body of the General Administration of the Xunta de Galicia since 1993.
Precisely, this Saturday the Compostela PSOE has chosen a delegation for the regional political convention of the PSdeG that will take place on December 16 and 17 with the aim of laying the foundations of the formation’s ideology for the regional elections – in which Besteiro will be the candidate to preside over the Xunta–.
The delegation will be made up of members of the municipal executive commission, the municipal group, the representative in the Galician Chamber Noa Díaz and Pilar Cancela.
The local secretary of the Socialists, Aitor Bouza, has highlighted the party’s confidence in Besteiro’s chances against a PPdeG, which will have the current president, Alfonso Rueda, as a candidate, whose “insane nervousness” he has noted: “The only thing that proposes to the Galicians is tension.”
