The Provincial Court of Zamora has imposed four years in prison and economic fines on the mayor of Castroverde de Campos expelled from the PSOE, Cecilio Lera, for the crimes of favoring prostitution of minors, sexual abuse of minors, exhibitionism and dissemination of pornographic material among minors.
The sentence has been handed down after the parties reached an agreement in a hearing held this Tuesday at the Provincial Court and that the already convicted, Cecilio Lera, has followed by videoconference from the Topas Penitentiary Center, in the province of Salamanca, after This past Monday he was admitted for an alleged crime of gender violence.
The agreement between the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense has made it possible to reduce the sentences from the twelve years of initial request to the four years finally imposed.
Lera has acknowledged the facts and has accepted the sentence, which will mean for all intents and purposes the end of his political career in the position of mayor of the PSOE in Castroverde de Campos since 1978, taking into account that he is also disqualified from holding any public charge.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has taken as mitigating the fact that Cecilio Lera was addicted to toxic substances and alcoholic beverages at the time of the events. As revealed at the hearing, the defendant is undergoing detoxification treatment.
The facts tried date back to the summer of 2021, specifically between the months of July and October 2021, when the mayor of Castroverde de Campos summoned the two minors, sisters, at their home at night to prevent the neighbors from being able to see them.
After offering between 50 and 100 euros for each meeting, several days a week, the councilor induced the victims to have sex and practice massages.
