The driver of a tractor died this Thursday after being run over by an Alvia train at a level crossing in Arenas de Iguña, in Cantabria, sources from the Traffic Civil Guard have reported to EFE.
The vehicle was run over while trying to cross a level crossing without barriers in a field area between Las Fraguas and Bárcena de Pie de Concha.
Adif sources have indicated to Efe that no passenger on the train has been injured, although the railway has been rendered “useless” and circulation is cut off because there is only one track in that area, so it will have to retire to reestablish itself, if there is no damage to the tracks.
It is an Alvia that made the Santander-Madrid route, they point out from the Government Delegation in Cantabria, which has also reported that the emergency call occurred around 2:40 p.m.
