Carlos Alcaraz added a new victory against Félix Auger-Aliassime in Indian Wells that gives him a pass to the semifinal round of the American tournament.
“I am really proud to beat him here on this court and to qualify for the semifinals after a great match,” said the Spanish tennis player at the conclusion of the match.
The Murcian thus achieved his 102nd victory in the ATP. A personal record that also serves to measure himself without complexes with the best tennis players in history.
When Rafa Nadal added 100 victories in the ATP, he had lost five more games than the Murcian and Djokovic eleven more. Even the Swiss Roger Federer appears much further back in that classification of this ranking, with 69 defeats. The metrics do not fail and define the long-distance potential of the Spanish tennis player.
This Saturday Alcaraz will have a new rival in the form of Jannik Sinner. Another of the young talents of the ATP circuit and of which everyone predicted a few weeks ago would be the rival of Juan Carlos Ferrero’s pupil in this phase of the tournament.
The most fans will remember the great game that both players played in the last US Open that fell on the side of Alcaraz. Even so, in the four games they have played, each one has won two games.
On the other hand, Alcaraz will play the semifinals in the Californian desert for the second consecutive year (in 2022 he lost to Rafa Nadal in an epic match) and, if he wins the Indian Wells tournament, he would recover the number one in the world that he currently defends from Serbian Novak Djokovic.
The semifinal match between Alcaraz and Sinner in the Indian Wells 2023 tournament will be held this Saturday, March 18.
The match will take place after the first semifinal between Medvedev and Tiafoe which begins at 7:00 p.m.
Hence, the schedule of the meeting in Spain between Alcaraz and Sinner can be followed, in the absence of confirmation, from 12 pm from Saturday to Sunday.
The meeting can be followed on television through Movistar.
