An elderly woman, who uses a wheelchair, survived after a train passed over her after she fell in the middle of the tracks, Swiss police reported Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Kaiseraugst train station, near Basel, in northwestern Switzerland, local police said.

The 70-year-old woman was “very lucky in her misfortune” since she was immobilized exactly in the middle of the two rails, the police detailed. The train that passed over her only grazed her, she added.

The woman was hospitalized, as was another person who was on the platform and was slightly injured by the pieces of the wheelchair that were thrown.

The accident caused disruption to rail traffic at Kaiseraugst station for several hours.
