Xesús Fraga is a Galician writer born in London in 1971, although his root is Betanzos.
He is also a journalist in the voice of Galicia, editor of the Culture Section since 1996. And today he has won the National Narrative Award (20,000 euros and convened by the Ministry of Culture) by a published Galician novel, virtues (and mysteries),
and that the Aragonese Editorial Xordica presented in Spanish.
Since 1986, when Alfredo Conde received this same distinction by Xa Vai or Griffon, no Vento, there were four books published in Galician who has achieved the award: the other two, along with Conde, were from Manuel Rivas (1996) and Suso
of Toro (2003).
On this occasion, Fraga’s novel gives flight to the history of a part of his family.
Exactly two generations of women (grandmother, mother, aunts), and emigration, and memory, and one of the most constant reasons for the land of him: emigration.

He has translated the Galician and Spanish Books by Julian Barnes, Vladimir Nabokov, Jack Kerouac, Anne Fine, Roald Dahl, Edith Nesbit, Sylvia Plath and Robert Macfarlane, among others.
The National Narrative gives this year one more step in rewarding an author who writes in Galician.
That he publishes in his tongue.
