The new Dutch government, which will have as a main objective the fight against climate warming, lent oath on Monday, about 10 months after elections, a record for Holland.
The fourth consecutive coalition government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte was invested by King Guillermo Alejandro at an official ceremony at the Royal Noudeinde Palace in The Hague, where Parliament is headed.
Baptized “Rutte IV”, the new Government wants to build two nuclear power plants and plans to ensure 35,000 million euros (about 40,000 million dollars) in ten years to fight climate change, a great threat to Holland, which has a third of its
Territory under sea level.
According to Rutte, known to scroll by bicycle, the coalition aims to focus on this issue “for the next generation” of a country very dependent on gas.
With this objective, Holland will have a minister for climate and energy for the first time, Rob Jetten, 34, and the new Government aims for the country to be neutral on emissions for 2050.
