Two Americans can watch a film for $3.99 each. But the purchase turns out to be a disappointment: Hollywood star Ana de Armas, who can be seen in the trailer, doesn’t even appear in the final version. A lawsuit against the producing film studio is admissible in this case, a US court decides.

Two fans of Ana de Armas have been sued in the United States because their favorite actress appeared in a film preview but was then cut from the film in question. According to US media reports on Friday, a judge allowed a lawsuit against the Hollywood studio Universal Pictures. It demands five million dollars (4.7 million euros) in compensation.

Peter Michael Rosza and Conor Woulfe each spent $3.99 to rent the 2019 film Yesterday on Amazon Prime. According to their own statements, they were seduced by the trailer in which Ana de Armas was to be seen. In the film, however, the 34-year-old no longer appeared. The actress, known among other things for the James Bond film “No Time to Die”, was cut out of “Yesterday” during the final assembly.

The two fans felt cheated and can now sue Universal Pictures. The studio is accused of deception “because consumers have not received the expected value of their purchase or rental”. The class action lawsuit seeks $5 million in damages on behalf of all disappointed fans.
