Eisfeld (dpa/th) – A man is said to have stolen 300 kilograms of copper cable from a house in Eisfeld (Hildburghausen district) – presumably under drugs. The 31-year-old was on Thursday with a van and was stopped by police officers, as the Thuringian police announced on Friday. The officers found a large amount of copper cables in the cargo hold of the van. When asked, the 31-year-old stated that he had stolen the cables from an empty building and that he wanted to sell them. A rapid drug test was positive for amphetamines and methamphetamines. According to the information, damage of around 50,000 euros was caused in order to get to the cables.
