Erfurt (dpa/th) – For around 15,000 people with a visual impairment, the blind allowance will increase in Thuringia in the coming year. The monthly rate will rise to 472 euros, said the left-wing member of the state parliament Karola Stange on Thursday. Previously, the visually impaired and other people with a sensory impairment received EUR 400 per month. This also applies to deaf and deaf-blind people. The benefit is therefore also referred to as sensory disability benefit. This is intended to compensate for the increased expenses for aids in the everyday life of the people affected. With the recent budget decision for 2023, the increase has become possible, said Stange.
