Erfurt (dpa/th) – The weekend in Thuringia remains frosty. “It’s still cold in winter,” said a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD). Locally there are flat fog fields on Friday. A few snowflakes occasionally fall in the Vogtland. In the afternoon there will be heavier cloud banks, mostly without precipitation. The temperatures are a maximum of minus two to minus six degrees. Some snow grains will fall on Saturday night. The minimum temperatures are minus seven degrees.

Saturday is expected to be cloudy and mostly rain-free. There is permafrost with temperatures between minus one and minus five degrees. At night, temperatures drop to minus 9 to minus 15 degrees.

According to the DWD, Sunday should be sunny and free of precipitation. The highest temperatures are between minus three and zero degrees. The lowest temperatures are between minus four and minus eight degrees. In the Werra valley there will be light freezing rain with ice formation on Monday night. On Monday there will be a difficult black ice situation and milder temperatures during the week. “It won’t be really wintry anytime soon,” said the spokesman.
