Erfurt (dpa/th) – Almost half a year after the Thuringian repair bonus for electrical appliances was reinstated, consumer demand for the subsidy is unbroken. Since the renewed funding at the end of May, around 10,000 Thuringians have used the “Repair Bonus 2.0”, as the Ministry of the Environment told the German Press Agency. The state government’s funds for this were increased to around one million euros this year.
As in the previous year, the bonus would support an average of around 50 repairs a day, it said. Application and reimbursement go through the consumer center. Thuringians receive half of the repair costs back up to a maximum of 100 euros. Many applicants would only decide to have their electronic devices repaired because of the bonus. Without this financial incentive, the defective devices would have been disposed of and replaced with new ones. The bonus would protect the environment and your wallet.
According to the information, the most common repairs are on mobile phones, washing machines, coffee machines, dishwashers and ovens. The repairs are mostly carried out by specialist dealers, but also by workshops and repair cafés.
The program was first launched in 2021 – the funding pot was empty after four months. It was reissued at the end of May. The Ministry of the Environment is also committed to a nationwide repair bonus.
