Erfurt (dpa/th) – In view of the high energy prices, the state continues to support homeowners with plans for energy renovation. The Ministry of Energy and the Environment announced on Saturday that a total of almost 195,000 euros was available this year via the “Renovation Bonus Plus” program.
The program tops up the federal subsidy for home renovation plans so homeowners only have to pay a 10 percent deductible. According to the ministry, they also secure five percent higher grants for investments that are implemented later. Applications can be made via the Thuringia consumer advice center.
“Investments in efficient houses pay off – they make you less dependent on expensive fossil energy, maintain the value of the property and protect the climate,” explained Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens). According to the information, buildings account for 35 percent of final energy consumption and about 30 percent of CO2 emissions in Germany.
According to the information given last year, around 200 applications were received for the “Restructuring Bonus Plus” program by mid-December. That was almost triple the previous year, the ministry said. However, the program only started in June 2021, so the numbers are difficult to compare.
