Erfurt (dpa/th) – The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Thuringia warn companies against fake e-mails that appear to come from an IHK sender. The IHK Erfurt and Südthüringen announced on Friday that unknown persons wanted to obtain data from member companies via the e-mails with the sender service@ihk24.de. To do this, the recipients would be asked to re-identify themselves at an IHK. The chamber urgently advised to delete these emails immediately. The IHK is not the sender of these emails. Anyone who is unsure in other cases whether the message actually comes from the chamber should ask there by phone.
According to the Erfurt Chamber, so-called phishing emails have already been sent to a fictitious “IHK Germany” in recent weeks, which should also be deleted without being read. Regardless of these two specific cases, companies should exercise caution in the case of alleged IHK emails, because after a known cyber attack on the IHK organization, free riders may be at work.
