Lippersdorf (dpa/th) – A trail of blood several 100 meters long on the road between Lippersdorf and Erdmannsdorf (Saale-Holzland district) called the police into action. It is being investigated because of a possible violation of the Animal Welfare Act. According to initial findings, a driver is said to have tied an animal to his car and dragged it behind him, as the Jena State Police Inspectorate informed on Monday. What kind of animal it was and whether it was still alive remained unclear for the time being. Police are appealing for additional witnesses who may have information about Sunday’s incident.
