Merkers (dpa/th) – In a work accident on Friday in the Wartburg district, a 61-year-old man was hit by a lifting platform and killed. According to the police, the lifting platform started rolling during work in the Merkers district of the Krayenberg community. The 29-year-old driver of the machine was thrown out of the vehicle and seriously injured. His 61-year-old colleague was trapped by the work tool and died at the scene of the accident. The 29-year-old was flown to the hospital. The criminal police and the Thuringian State Mining Authority have taken over the investigation.
