Erfurt (dpa/th) – The number of company bankruptcies increased in the third Corona year in Thuringia. A total of 233 companies with around 1900 employees filed for bankruptcy in 2022 due to over-indebtedness or insolvency, as the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday in Erfurt. That is an increase of 13.1 percent. The affected companies had open liabilities totaling 164 million euros.

Overall, the Thuringian district courts decided on 2,218 insolvency proceedings last year, about two thirds of which were consumer insolvencies. The number of bankruptcies fell by 10.2 percent compared to 2021. Only 24 procedures ended with a debt settlement plan.
