Erfurt (dpa/th) – According to Thuringia’s Energy Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens), the gas supply situation in the country is currently tense but stable. “The gas storage facilities in the federal government are currently 94 percent full, the Thuringian underground storage facility in Allmenhausen 100 percent,” said the politician on Tuesday after the cabinet meeting in Erfurt. The declared goal of the federal government is that by November 1st every German gas storage facility should be at least 95 percent full.
Siegesmund called on the federal government to facilitate the simultaneous use of arable land for plant and energy production by removing bureaucratic hurdles. As with biogas and photovoltaics, the expansion of renewable energies must be promoted. In addition, more should be invested in the distribution networks of energy. The politician did not name specific sums in this context.
