Erfurt (dpa/th) – In the Thuringian mayoral elections, the polling stations have been closed since 6 p.m. – the first results in some smaller towns are already available. For example, individual applicant Rainer Wehr in Thalwende (Eichsfeld district) received 93.5 percent of the votes, as reported by the State Statistical Office on Sunday. Jens Scheidig got 82.6 percent in Totleben in the Unstrut-Hainich district. And in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, Steffen Hohmann achieved 80.7 percent of the vote in Birx. Several applicants were also elected in the Altenburger Land with 90 percent or more of the votes. They all had no opponents.
